I work in a teaching hospital in New England. We’re an ob/gyn hospital, and I work in the Reproductive Medicine division. Every day I’m amazed at the things the doctors I work with do, and I’ve often told them that they are miracle workers.
Today, I read a press release out of the European Society of Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) 2013 annual meeting that’s taking place (ends today) in London, UK. The press release (which can be found here) announces the first birth as a result of a new form of genetic analysis of an embryo.
These are the things that amaze me. Granted, most of it goes way over my head, but I get the gist of it. Sometimes I wonder if they realize how amazing they are. What may seem to them as just part of their job gives hope to people who feel hopeless. That’s something to be proud of.
